Purpose:

Responsible for leading the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, reduce waste and deliver cost savings. This position will support the lean mindset amongst all employees, improving efficiencies in our operations through continuous improvement and standardized processes. Will act as a champion of continuous improvement throughout the entire manufacturing facility. Excellent project management and cross-functional communication with the ability to bring teams together to define the scope of improvement opportunities. Responsible for the coordination and accomplishment of facility maintenance and operation work. Responsible for project management, fixture design, material and process problem resolution, and associate training.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs and coordinates Continuous Improvement and facility maintenance/improvement initiatives to meet strategic productivity/safety/quality/budgetary goals.
  • Responsible for CI leadership in the organization, populating pipeline metrics and promoting programs such as "Idea" to drive VC/ESH improvements.
  • Hold Kaizen style events and use the most effective LEAN/SIX SIGMA/PCC toolbox application to achieve each goal.
  • Act as a change agent for leading and managing continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Coordinates and oversees associates and sub-contractors engaged in all maintenance activities.
  • Maintain team based Visual communication boards and systems to help groups monitor and track performance.
  • Oversee Work Instruction and ISO documentation to ensure visual aids are used to provide employees with processes that minimize variability while maximizing quality and throughput.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production on Preventative Maintenance (PM) recommendations for optimal product quality and machine uptime. Review existing PM’s for effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years industry/Continuous Improvement (CI) lead experience with strong team leadership skills and communication skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required, and proven experience with effective teams and continuous improvement methods strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (CAD, Excel, MS Office) and hands on experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles (including VSM, 6S, Kanban, leading Kaizan events, and pull systems) are essential.
  • A minimum Six Sigma/Lean green belt; black belt certification preferred.

  • Experience in supervisory positions, in order to better manage associates.
