Job Description *

 

To perform visual and dimensional inspection operations for in process and final castings while identifying and documention product quality.  This individual will also perform Vis/Dim audits for PCC to ensure compliance to written procedures which satisfy customer blueprint.quality requirement.  Administer exams to qualified trainees in accordance with internal quality control manuals while also performing re-qualifications of existing inspectors.  Also, interface with TATS Certified team trainers to ensure TATS methodology requirements for training are being followed.


  PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  1.  Auditing

    Perform visual/dimensional inspections using a variety of inspection tolls and techniques to perform outgoing quality audits to ensure compliance to PCC quality standards, tech cards, blueprints and customer specifications.

    Essential Job Functions:

       A. Complete detailed reports of inspection and/or audit results and enter results into the electronic database.
       B. Audits performance of production inspections to meet PCC’s customer requirements and provides results to inspection supervision, engineering and quality management.
       C. Performs and maintains records of NDT audits performed including special process audits.
       D. Makes written and verbal recommendations to quality management, manufacturing supervision, NDTE and technicians based on audit results.
       E. Makes recommendations for technique card work instructions and inspection procedures.


  2.  Certifications

    Perform administering, grading and associated paperwork for Visual/Dimensional inspectors to comply with QCM’s.

    Essential Job Functions:

       A. Administer/Grade Certification exams for trainees
       B. Perform re-certification by satisfactory performance audits for existing Vis/Dim Inspectors.
       C. Keep inspector certification files current and up to date.
       D. Perform stamp coordinator duties, when required.
       E. Prepare and distribute monthly certification lists.
       F. Perform annual eye exams using innovator program.


  3.  Safety

    Initiates responsible and safe work practices and takes responsibility for a safe work environment.
 
       Essential Job Functions:

      A.  Adheres to PCC company and department safety policies.
      B.  Safely operates all equipment and tools.
      C.  Identifies and reports potential unsafe work environments.


  4.  Training

      A.  Training is provided on the job.
      B.  Certification courses and certification in onther Non-Destructive Testing methods and levels not held at hire, as assigned.


  5.  Communication

    Essential Job Functions:

      A.  Interfaces with customers regarding quality of castings, inspection requirements, specification and rework cycles.
      B.  Interfaces with engineering regarding specifications, quality standards, inspection techniques, processing and work instruction.
      C.  Interfaces with department supervision, team leads and trainers to sustain a quality inspection department.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced inspection skills, demonstrated by documented qualifications and work experience.  Prior to hire candidate must posses a high school diploma or GED, Vis/Dim certification and be able to perform basic mathematical calculations, communicate effectively and write in English, have basic computer skills and shall be able to obtain the following:

   1.  Pass a visual acuity exam
   2.  TATS certification - minimum of two years
   3.  Ultrasonic level 1 special
   4.  Auditor Certification
   5.  Examiner Qualification
   6.  Minimum of five years experience as a Vis Dim Inspector


  7.  Other Responsibilities:

Provide working supervision, work instruction and/or train as directed.  Performs ink lot testing to qualify batches of ink used in daily operations of manufacturing.  Performs tasks diredted by NDTE manager to successfully meet customer and department demands.
