Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, internal control systems and protection of assets against loss.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
The Controller has the final responsibility for providing the organization and its management with the appropriate financial and operating information necessary. This individual and the accounting staff are expected to work closely with other department groups on problems involving accounting systems and financial planning.
Among the duties of this position are management reporting and policymaking as it pertains to the department. In general, this individual may be looked to for technical and analytical guidance in identifying and solving problems within the functional limits of the department.
Accountable for guiding and directing financial and control activities for the company in a manner designed to protect assets, meet reporting requirements, provide timely meaningful report of company operations and effectively plan for and audit the financial needs of the firm. Works closely with Manufacturing Operations to identify improvement opportunities and continual feedback for production optimization.
Establishes policies and procedures for the effective recording, analyzing and reporting of all financial matters. This function encompasses corporate profit analysis, taxes, auditing, consolidated financial reporting, and functional control over the accounting and control activities. Responsible for data integrity of all financial controls, including but not limited to product costing, general ledger and balance sheet.
Ensuring timely records, organized accurate reporting of finances, audit compliance, meeting payroll.
Performs other duties of the same or lesser degree as required by the position or as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Frequent internal contacts to internal plant, division, and corporate management.
External contacts to auditors, regulators and customers.
Contacts of a financial nature.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Expert knowledge of economic and GAAP/accounting principles, financial markets, and IFRS/financial analysis and data reporting
Expertise in management principles involved in strategic planning and forecasting including people, material, and equipment resource allocation; corporate and human resource policies and benefits; leadership and teaming; and production methods
Compliance experience with Sarbanes/Oxley requirements.
Excellent computer skills including a high degree of skill in Excel and PowerPoint; Exposure to ERP systems
Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, building a strong team with the right skills in the right jobs
Consider costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate course of action

EDUCATION AND EXPIERENCE
College degree in Accounting/Business, MBA, CPA or CMA preferred.
Knowledge of EDP-oriented accounting systems.
Minimum Five (5) years Accounting/Finance experience in private industry, manufacturing preferred
